Remark

Modern researches brought certainty that the handstamp has never been applied officially on the side with the German text (ROMANIA P-R11). The 10.000 Kronen note was not eligible for handstamping.
Such notes, however, were carried to Romania by profiteers and smugglers, and in all likelihood they got them stamped by an authority bribed by them, and without exception on the side with the Hungarian text.
A very unfavorable exchange rate in Lei was paid to the people and so a huge profit could be bagged. After their conversion the notes were destroyed.
Taking into account the large quantities of notes and bundles, it is of course not impossible that during the stamping operation some notes were placed the wrong way, i.e. with the German text side up.
However, such a note has not been detected so far.
